The Mountain View High school in Tuscon, Arizona is going to great lengths to demonstrate the dangers of impaired and distracted driving to local teens by staging a mock car accident at the school.

The Northwest Fire District, local police and scientists from the Health and Medical Science Academy helped to simulate the tragic events that unfold during serious car accidents for students. The display, called "Operation Prom Night", attracted about 1,800 teens who gathered at the school's football field to watch. In addition to staging the car accident with real vehicles, fire trucks and ambulances, students were provided with warnings on the various distractions that can lead to accidents and the importance of driving safely at all times. There were 219 DUI-related fatalities in Arizona last year, and these accounted for 27% of the total traffic fatalities in the state. The organizers of the event hope that it will make teens take driving more seriously and indirectly save some lives.

A lorry driver in Great Britain was involved in a car accident, and filed for accident at work compensation claims of 1 million pounds for severe injuries that left him wheelchair bound. The initial accident claim was just 1,850 pounds, but a medical assessment based on his confinement to a wheelchair had upped the value to 1 million pounds.

However, the claims proved to be a fraud and this was discovered after he posted photos on his Facebook page of a 2,000 mile road trip across Europe. Other evidence included video surveillance of him attaching a caravan to his vehicle. The man ended up serving 9 months in prison for lying in court documents, claiming that the accident had left him with a profound fear of being in cars and of traveling. The lesson in this recent news case is that persons should avoid making fraudulent compensation claims, because they will likely to get caught in the end.

Here is one simple tip about the prevention of car accidents. To understand this, consider this question-what is the most advertised method of getting into a car accident?

That's right-it is getting drunk before you drive. Here is one of the bigger tips, yet it may be the most obvious. Don't even think about drinking if you are driving. If you have one beer, you will want another. When you have two, your logic will rule that having a third will just be a drop in the bucket. Before you know it, you're drunk but confident. You think that you can drive. That is the biggest, funniest lie ever-not to you though. You get in your car and drive off in a shaky S-shaped pattern, straight into a tree.

Now take this advice-don't think about drinking if you're going to be driving.
